Failure…The Road To Success?

How Fast Can You Fail?

Somehow, as business owners, many of us have picked up a skewed vision of the path to success. Plotted on a graph, it looks like a wavy line, more or less headed up and to the right. Truth is, entrepreneurs know that line circles back on itself, dips and rises wildly, and after untangling itself from a massive knot, heads north east on that graph.

In desensitization therapy, psychologists expose a patient with a phobia to measured doses of whatever it is they fear. Eventually, the fear is overcome. The two biggest fears entrepreneurs face are fear of failure and fear of success. Fear of failure’s easier to beat, because it’s easier to create a failure to expose yourself to – and survive – than it is to orchestrate desensitizing yourself to the ‘terror’ inherent in success.

WHAT’S The Key?

The key: seeing that you can fail, then pick up the pieces and keep going without collapsing and quitting. It’s martial arts stuff – the core of perseverance that dictates “knock down seven times, stand up eight.”

The idea is not randomly, purposefully doing a crash and burn. It is more to create room for more, and more creative ideas. An upsurge in quantity and quality of initiatives is far more likely to yield wins than sticking to the same old, same old because you dare not venture forth into the unknown.
To fly or fail effectively, you must learn to assess without emotion. Each new endeavour must be evaluated: What worked? What didn’t work so well? What should we change for next time?

Take the calculated risk. Go boldly where you have not gone before. Then evaluate your results ruthlessly. The faster you fail, the faster you learn what will fly in your business.

What is Co-Workspace?

Market your Co-work spaceOver the last year, I have received a number of questions about Co-Workspace and how we became involved with Marketing Workspace. The most common question is What is Co-Workspace?
There are many perks about being able to work from home. You have a 5 second commute, and you can work in your pajamas if you want to. There are some downsides too – social interaction is pretty much nil, and there are plenty of distractions, like television, games and social media.

It can be downright lonely at times. Occasionally you may need a different place to work just for a bit of inspiration, or you might want to meet with a client in a more professional setting. That’s where co-workspace can help.

A co-workspace is essentially an office that several people share the cost of. It offers the best of both worlds: an official looking office that can give you the space you need, without breaking your budget. Everyone in the facility pays a portion of the total cost, making it affordable, practical and simple.

Co-workspaces have been becoming more popular over the last few years, and new locations are popping up on a regular basis. Prices will vary according to location and the number of people sharing the space. This type of arrangement has been used for years among freelancers, but you can now find a host of industries using co-workspaces, such as web designers, sales associates, home-based entrepreneurs, writers and programmers.

Some facilities allow users to buy a day pass, for just occasional use, or to see how it would work out for them. The fee includes a desk, chair, and includes some basic office amenities like conference rooms, coffee and tea, internet connection, as well as printer and fax usage.

One of the biggest advantages of a co-workspace is that you get that camaraderie among other freelancers, even if they don’t necessarily all work in the same field. The social interaction can do wonders for one’s inspiration, not to mention one’s sanity.

The concept seems more prevalent in North America but it could be an idea that takes the world by storm in a few years. If your area doesn’t yet have a co-workspace arrangement, it isn’t hard to organize one yourself. Just get some like-minded freelancers together and come up with a location and conditions that work for all of you. It’s much more affordable than renting premium office space and it’s better than sitting in a noisy coffee shop all day long.

Splitting the rent of a small office can be an ideal solution for those looking for affordable office space.

Google Introduces New Floor Plans Listing Product

Great reasons why listing your floor plans are important

Aside from being a good web 2.0 tool for workspace providers to utilize, listing your floor plan to Google’s new service allows searchers the benefit of finding your floor plan that’s linked to your building. This service goes beyond what Google Local or Google Maps offers, in that it will allow people searching for your building to get an in depth view of the interior spaces. Depending on the data available, the map will show notable places in the building you’re currently viewing, including stores, restrooms, food, and more.

If you’re looking to give people better insight into what your building is all about or what specific features are inside, then think of getting a floor plan drawn up if it hasn’t been done already. Then, in order to begin the using the service, you’ll need to know the proper details on your building and or floor and have a steady hand when it comes to actually finishing the uploading process.

What is Google Local Places

Google Local was introduced to the public in 2004. The company wanted to cash in on the fact that millions of people were refining their searches to include specific locations, such as “Car Dealerships Las Vegas,” or “London dry cleaners.” Thus, Google Local was born, and offered a series of relevant local neighborhood maps, business listings and directions. In 2005, Google Local was paired with Google Maps.

Name Changed to Google Places

Eventually, Google Local was changed to Google Places. During the launch phase, there were over 50 million business listings around the world. At the time, interestingly enough, there 4 million businesses that had claimed the listing as their own.
Now, Google Places can be found in Place Search as well. The search results of Google Places will appear in normal Google search results, as they always were, but more information will now be included.

If you are a business owner, there is a good chance that your business already exists in Google Places – even if you haven’t actively done anything to be listed. If you want to rank your business locally, you must claim your business listing. Research has shown that consumers search online first before making any purchase decisions. If you want to increase your profits, you need to have an on-line presence – that’s simply marketing 101.

Once you claim your business listing, there are several other steps you need to take.

  • Make sure you have relevant keyword phrases and local terms on your website
  •  Encourage reviews – you want people to be engaged and show an interest in your business
  •  Get some back-links with anchor text that is relevant to your business. Try and include the local term with the anchor text, like “London Dry Cleaners.”
  •  Produce relevant content that describes your services, products and local area
  •  Build your listings (also called citations) in local directories that are specific to your geographic area.

Recommendation Engine: Google Places With Hotpot

Google’s recent addition to its local search product lineup is called “Google Places with Hotpot.”

From Google:

Hotpot is a new local recommendation engine for Google Places, powered by you and your friends.

You tell us the places you like — restaurants, cafes, book shops — and we’ll recommend new places to you the next time you search. Start rating and reviewing now @ www.google.com/hotpot

And that’s basically it in a nutshell. Google Local is a simple, but powerful tool that can get you more local customers. Be warned, however. The above list may sound simple enough, but it will take time to accomplish. It’s important to follow the SEO rules for getting ranked when you’re putting together your content.

New Facebook for Businesses – Facebook Business Pages Demystified

The Business field has turned into a business universe; these days, the business universe is filled up with new ideas, trends, products, consumers, and markets. To be able to stand out in this crowded place, you have to enter the internet world and make your own home or so-called Business page. You become an outstanding “page owner” if you construct a business page where all details, information, and photos about your business are posted in a creative way.

New Facebook for Businesses

Websites have become interactive places for customers to find information before they make their purchase. With that popularity, the landscape has become incredibly messy; so when Facebook created the capability for business owners to customize their Facebook Business page; marketers everywhere started to build their Facebook presence with the new tools given. Facebook is now unsurpassed with the highest number of members and users, with users totaling 500 million. Hence, if you want to be a part of the modern trend in business and keep up where clients and potential business targets are “hubbing”, a customized Facebook page can make all the difference.

How to create a Facebook Business Page

If you already have a personal social account with Facebook, then you can log in and go to the Facebook Business Page link. However, if you still don’t have an account with Facebook, create and account first. This account is purely for business purposes hence, you don’t need to fill in the personal details. After your account is approved, click the “Create a Page” link. Once there, make your own business page now. To start, go to “Official Page” and mark “create a page for a:” then select “local business”. When this opens, enter your official page name for your company. Next, tick the box that says you are a legal representative of the company and you are allowed to own the page. Choose a page name containing alpha characters and do not use hyphens or underscores. Then, click “create’ and a page will open that makes you now an owner of a Facebook business page. Remember that every visitor or user of your site who clicked “Like” for your site will also receive posts from you. Since, generally, this is a business page and not a social page, limit your posts to twice per day to avoid crowding the walls of other users.

Cost Effective Custom Business Pages

Once you get into promoting your new Facebook business page a customized page is essential. There are a number of places to learn how to create your own page but the reality is that as a business owner, the time spent learning new design tools can be daunting. Luckily there is a cost effective alternative already helping clients in almost every industry. Smart Search Media offers the best Facebook Designs on the internet. Unlike any other Facebook developer, Smart Search Media has mastered the art of the professional Facebook “Business Page”. Give your Facebook Local listing the look and feel that customers will appreciate and allow your Facebook Business Page to finally convert visitors to sales by offering all the features your website has and more.

Six Website Redesign Tips

There is no excuse for poor functionality anymore!

Fact #1: The cost of a complete website redesign has dramatically decreased.

The widespread use of cost-effective content management systems such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. have made it possible to get a stunning new website professionally designed (including training and post-installation services) for less than $3,000.00. It is important to have a plan in place to keep your site updated with the types of features and functionality that reach out and grab your customers and keep them coming back for more!

Fact #2: You dont get the guy who built the restaurant to cook the food!

The Chef knows the local cuisine, what to serve, and even how the menu is laid out. The construction crew is long gone when the doors open. So why do most of the companies employ a “Web Guy” who has no marketing or industry specific experience? My first (and most significant) tip is to hire someone with experience in your industry

Here are six redesign tips from an industry insider who knows how to cook up a marketing meal that your customers will eat up!

1. Make your goal to convert visitors to leads.

Website redesigns are done to improve your business and superficial adjustments are not the only way to make your website look more attractive. Knowing your ultimate goal goes a long way in creating a website that truly meets your business needs: visitors, leads and customers. All efforts should be focused on helping you reach your business targets. These help you focus on results rather than cosmetic adjustments to your website.

2. Take inventory of your assets, then protect them.

Improperly designed websites have a negative effect on your search engine ranking. Many website redesigns have resulted in poor marketing and decreased sales for the business. Existing websites, good or bad, have their own market value gained from assets you have built up. Each website has its own assets that convert leads into customers. The important thing is to identify what is working (great content, keywords you rank for, inbound links to individual pages, conversion tools) and incorporate it into the website redesign. Note: Many “web design experts” get this stuff wrong. They are design experts, not Internet marketing experts.

3. Create an ongoing content building strategy.

More content means more information that helps to increase interest and visitors which translates into a more dynamic business. A content- rich website will outperform a 10 page website 9 out of ten times. Bigger websites also translate to better traffic. Getting your website updated with content helps increase interest and buzz. Hint: Blogging makes creating content easy, but read this before attempting!

4. Enable conversion experiments.

Constant and conscientious efforts to improve the quality of your conversion tools are the secret to increasing your conversion rate and number of leads from your website. Landing page development can be a good way of improving traffic dramatically. Getting the service of an IT or website professional can be expensive and does not allow businesses to become more creative and independent in charting their website redesign efforts. Getting software that edits content and build landing pages can go a long way in helping you develop a better website. Check out our Joomla, WordPress or Drupal websites for examples.

5. Include a blog, RSS feed, landing pages, and most importantly, an SEO strategy.

The secret to a successful website is to fully utilize all the above techniques. These are inexpensive and highly effective. Creating a blog helps you generate more content for your website and helps you interact or develop a better relationship with your customers. RSS allows some content from your website to be automatically pushed out to other websites and people, increasing the reach of your content. Landing pages are critical to actually get value out of your traffic. SEO is the single most important tool in your marketing tool box PERIOD.

6. Measure your Metrics: Visitors and leads.

Finally, develop a system that regularly assesses the actual number of visitors and conversions. These figures give an objective way of measuring your website redesign efforts. Improving numbers show that changes have a positive effect on the business while dwindling traffic means that its time to return to the old drawing board.

How To Be a Blogger

Fast and Fresh Content Creation: The Basics

Setting up a Blog page or section to your website and posting relevant content is among the most effective and quickest ways to improve your search rankings and conversions; it is also another great way to engage your audience with calls to action or developing an audience from nothing.

Before you jump in and try to engage readers with the antics of your pet, or your family (no one cares that your cat sits on your keyboard,) take the time to learn how to setup a blog properly, write relevant content and convert your readers into buying customers.

Setting up your Blog properly means choosing the right type of system to use for content management. Content management is the tool you use to post your text, pics or videos, allowing it to show up on your website. The most commonly used is WordPress. Its the worlds leading and easiest to install on your site and the best part is that it’s FREE. Just the installation requires some some help from your hosting company or web “dude”. Contact Smart Search Media for Blog installation and training that will turn you into a Blog Managing “Ninja” in about 45 minutes ! Once you have that completed you are ready to start writing. Here are some points to consider:

1) Decide on your content: There is no right or wrong answer here, and it really comes down to what you like to write about. Just make sure that whatever your topic is, it will engage your readers and utilize your target keywords in some way. What are your goals? Are you looking to attract clients or updating readers with local news or relevant stories to maintain their interest in your Blog. Are you writing about Office space, Meeting rooms or Virtual offices? or how those services assist businesses? You might want to choose a topic that answers a client question for example; “Why are Virtual Offices cost effective”. Before making your final decision on a topic, conduct some research to find out how many other bloggers write about that same topic. Competition is good, but you don’t want to be overwhelmed by other bloggers either.

2) Sign up for a Blog Account: If you do not have a corporate Blog on your website as described previously (You should!) Luckily, there are plenty of free blog hosting sites you can choose from. Make sure you select a service that allows you to subscribe to RSS feeds, upload images and of course, compose your blog. These built-in tools will make your blog much easier to manage. Google Blogger, WordPress.com or Typepad are a few of the more popular sites.

3) Get the Word Out: Now that you’ve chosen your topic and have a hosting site, it’s time to let the world know that you exist. There are plenty of directories, forums and bulletin boards you can post to, as well as using social media sites like Facebook, and Linkedin.

4) PPC: (Pay Per Click) ads are relatively economical and are a good place to start, but the but depending on your goals, a good social media bookmarking campaign or update on an active Facebook page will get you started.

5) Start Writing: Now, you have to actually put some content on your blog that you think your readers will enjoy. Put your personality into your writing and also include news from trusted sources, quotes, and anything else you think is relevant. Give your readers a reason to visit your blog instead of going to your competition. Encourage them to post their opinions, feedback, questions, etc. Then be sure to reply to as many posts as you can. This engages your readers and helps you build a following. For more information on Blogging and Blog management visit our Website http://smartsearchmedia.com/blog-management.php
